Blessings from God’s own country! PM Modi offers prayer to Guruvayur Temple in Kerala ahead of Maldives official visit

New government is taking shape in administration. India’s PM Modi is making his maiden foreign trip of this term to the Maldives. PM Modi is going to visit the Maldives and Sri Lanka. On the route to the Maldives, PM Modi reached Kerala.

On Friday night, PM Modi reached in Kochi, Kerala. Today in the morning, He offered prayers at the Guruvayur temple (also known as the Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple).

From Kerala, PM Modi will begin his two-day official visit to the Maldives and Sri Lanka. “These visits indicate the importance we attach to the policy of ‘Neighbourhood First’ and will further cement ties with key maritime neighbors,” PM Modi said, ahead of his visit.

PM Modi wore a traditional Kerala dhoti and white shawl during his visit to the temple.

During his temple, PM Narendra Modi also performed the ‘Thulabharam’ ritual for which the temple authorities had reportedly arranged over 100 kg of lotus flowers. The ritual is an important offering to Lord Krishna wherein a person is weighed against a commodity such as flowers, grains, fruits, and similar articles and the equal value or quantity is offered a donation.

He was accompanied by Kerala Governor P Sathasivam, Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan and Kerala Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran.

After his visit to the temple, PM Modi addressed meeting at the Guruvayur Krishna HS ground. This is 1st public meeting by PM Modi after winning the Lok Sabha elections.

He said during addressing the public, “I thank the people for having blessed us with a strong mandate”. He added I am blessed to have come to the land of Guruvayur again.

PM Modi said, “I applaud the supporters and people of Kerala for their active participation in the festival of democracy to strengthen the democratic fabric of our nation”.

He expressed, “People elect ‘Jan Pratinidhis’ for a five-year term. But we are ‘Jan Sevaks’. We are here to serve the people and we will continue to do so”.

He also stressed on the tourism potential, he said, “There is great potential for heritage tourism in Kerala. We have undertaken several initiatives to strengthen the tourism sector”. He added, 7 Projects of Kerala have been taken up under the Government of India’s Prasad scheme to enhance the great identity of India’s cultural heritage.
