Veteran playback singer Asha Bhosle was awarded this year’s Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar Award by Pandit Hradaynath Mangeshkar.
Asha Bhosle was presented with the award at a program organized by Dinanath Mangeshkar Pratishthan in Mumbai on the 81st death anniversary of Master Dinanath Mangeshkar. The award consists of a medal and one lakh one thousand one cash. Along with this award, other Dinanath Mangeshkar awards were also distributed on this occasion.
Tourism Minister Mangalprabhat Lodha was present on this occasion. Lodha announced that a 40 feet monument of Lata Mangeshkar will be erected at Haji Ali.
This year, Pankaj Udhas was honored with the Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Special Award for his contribution to the field of Indian music. Award for Best Play and Best Play Production went to Gauri Theaters for the play ‘Niyam Va Atti Lagoo’, Shree Sadguru Seva Trust for dedicated service in the field of social service, Vagvilasini Award to Grantali Prakashan for literature, Prasad Oak for outstanding performance in drama and film and Vidya Balan for film. was done
Founder President of ‘MIT’ Education Institute Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad was also honored. Vishwanath Karad established Vishwanath Kala Academy at Rajbagh, Loni. Lata Mangeshkar was the president of this academy. To pay homage to Lata Mangeshkar’s career in the field of music, Karad has built a temple of Saraswati at the source of Saraswati river in Uttarakhand and erected a statue of Lata Mangeshkar in front of the idol.
A concert of songs by classical music singer Rahul Deshpande, singer Hariharan was held. Kathak dance performance by artists from Assam was performed.
