Accused of kidnapping, rape and murder of minor in Kalyan commits suicide in jail

Vishal Gawli, accused of kidnapping, raping and murdering a minor in Chakkinaka area in Kalyan (East), committed suicide in Taloja jail.

According to the Taloja jail administration, Vishal Gawli hanged himself with the help of a towel in the toilet at 3.30 am today.

In December 2024, Vishal Gawli kidnapped a girl. He brought her to his house and raped her. Then he strangled her to death. With the help of his wife Sakshi, he dumped the body in an auto rickshaw at Bapgaon near Kalyan.

This incident had created tension in Kalyan. Kolsewadi police arrested him from Shegaon in Buldhana district. Vishal had married three times. Two wives had left him. A total of eight criminal cases were registered against him.

Kolsewadi police of Kalyan had banished his three brothers Shyam Gawli, Navnath Gawli and Akash Gawli from Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts last month. All of them were of criminal nature.
