In the ongoing Congress National Convention in Chhattisgarh, Sonia Gandhi not only surprised but also gave a big blow to the political pundits by hinting towards her political retirement. The party is working on a strategy to strengthen the Congress in the elections to be held in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and some other states, in such a situation many meanings are being attached to this statement of Sonia Gandhi.
Addressing the party leaders on the second day of the ongoing convention in Nava Raipur today, Sonia Gandhi said that looking at the last 25 years, along with our victories in 2004 and 2009 elections, Dr. Manmohan Singh’s able leadership has impressed me personally. Gave me satisfaction but I am most happy that my innings can end with the historic Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Sonia Gandhi said that the visit has come as a turning point. It has proved that the people of India want harmony, tolerance and equality. It has renewed the rich legacy of dialogue between our party and the people, Congress stands with the people and fights for them.
Sonia Gandhi said that Congress is not just a political party, we are the vehicle through which the people of India fight for liberty, equality, fraternity and justice for all. We reflect the voice of the people. Although the road ahead is not easy, victory will be ours.
Sonia said this is a challenging time for the country especially as PM Modi and the BJP continue to capture every single institution. It mercilessly silences any dissenting voice.
