Aiming to provide smoke-free environment in the kitchen for women, the Maharashtra state has moved up to launch a pilot project named ‘Chullah-free and smoke-free Maharashtra’ targeting the women who have not been benefited under the Ujjwala or any other LPG distribution scheme.
State Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar announced the said development in his Budget speech on Tuesday in presence of CM Devendra Fadnavis.
“Congratulations Mungantiwar bhau for presenting a Maha Budget 2019 which is well balanced, majorly focusing on employment generation of all sections and welfare of farmers & poor, divyang, women and deprived”, CM Fadnavis said.
“The pilot project will be implemented in Naxal- affected areas as well as the districts where farmer suicide rate is high”, Mungantiwar cleared.
The change that a simple cooking gas cylinder brings to the lives of the Ujjwala beneficiaries is evident. For schemes such as the PMUY the pace of implementation is crucial. The backbone being, the Jan Dhan Yojana, the financial inclusion scheme was launched in 2014, where the beneficiaries tend to receive government subsidies directly in their bank accounts.
