Rs 5,000 increase in house rent of cleaning workers in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation – Now they will get Rs 25,000

Mumbai, Dt. 16
Minister Uday Samant announced in the Legislative Assembly to increase the house rent of cleaning workers in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation by five thousand rupees.
Samant gave this information during a discussion on an interesting suggestion raised by Amin Patel and other members.
There are 27 thousand 900 sweepers in the municipal corporation, out of which 5 thousand 592 sweepers have been given service residences. After the structural inspection of these houses, it was revealed that these buildings are dangerous and these scavengers cannot live there.
Therefore, it has been decided to redevelop 30 out of 46 colonies. 12 thousand houses will be built from this. But until the redevelopment work of these colonies is completed, they are being given 14,000 displacement allowance and 6,000 rupees as house rent, 20,000 rupees per month, Samant said.
However, the members demanded an increase in this amount as they could not get a room for rent for Rs 20,000. Samant announced to increase it by five thousand rupees.
