Prabhu inaugurates Global Aviation Summit releasing the start up policy by AAI

“India is one of the fastest growing aviation sectors and all the players of this sector must come together to discuss the ideas. This summit is a union and this will actually address the problems that we are facing today”, said the Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu while inaugurating the Global Aviation Summit 2019, in Mumbai today in the presence of CM Devendra Fadanvis.

“Indian Aviation sector has been growing at the rate of 20% for last 4 years – the fastest growing Aviation Sector in the world! Led by the vision of our Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi ji, we are ready with a robust growth strategy to pave the way forward. Also sustainability is important and we must ensure that our flying practices are planet-friendly. It is our bounden responsibility to ensure that our skies remain blue for all times to come.”, he added further.

Jayant Sinha, the state Civil Aviation Minister, said that the BJP government has reformed, performed, transformed and now it is informing about the success achieved. According to him India has pioneered business models and improved in affordability. Meanwhile CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “By the beginning of 2020, the state government will make New Mumbai’s airport functional, which has the capacity to add 1 per cent to GDP.”

The two-day summit, with a theme ‘Flying for all-especially the next 6 Billion’, is being organised by Ministry of Civil Aviation in association with FICCI. It offers stakeholders an opportunity to explore, deliberate and understand how technology-driven innovations will change air travel in the decades to come.

During the summit, Civil Aviation secretary R N Choubey informed that India would be adding 1,000 aircraft over the next 7-8 years and one billion trips in the next 15 years. The domestic aviation has been growing at 20 per cent every year since last four years and this growth has been highest in the world.

However, many other country participants got involved into the conversation putting up their point in relation. Afganistan participated saying, “Civil Aviation is important to Afghanistan as we are a land locked country. We envision that civil aviation will play an important role in the new silk route scheme.” While that Georgia urged that with twice as more tourists as the population in Georgia and only 3 international airports, there’s a need to expand considering the rising number of tourists.

“Japanese civil aviation bureau have accumulated expertise in tackling damages from natural disasters, which will be beneficial for other countries,” remarked Japan. “Air transport liberalization can help Myanmar’s economy and hence we have been pursuing to achieve this for both passenger and cargo services”, said Myanmar meanwhile. Also Saudi Arabia quoted saying, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to the security and safety in order to provide the highest standards of air safety, at global and regional levels”.

The Union Minister also released the start up policy prepared by Airports Authority of India in collaboration with Invest India. “With this policy, we are set to innovate in many aviation-related issues through the introduction of start ups in this sector”, asserted Prabhu.
