No passenger will miss a flight now! Airports to make announcements in local languages

Attempting to make things feasible and accountable for the people while travelling, the passengers will now hear announcements in local languages in airports. This move comes after the Civil Aviation Ministry’s directive asserting all the airports in the country should be in local language followed by Hindi and English.

Union Minister for Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu in a move to ease travelling for people through flights issued a directive directed all airports to make public announcements in local language first, followed by Hindi and English. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a directive to all aerodromes under its control to start making public announcements in the local language in addition to Hindi and English.

Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu also ordered the AAI to take steps to make the announcements on public address system at all the airports in the country to be done in local language. The directions would not be applicable for silent airports, where public announcements are not made.

The AAI, in 2016, had issued circular asking airports under its control to make public announcements in the local language followed by Hindi and English. The Minister’s decision came after representations from certain quarters. There are more than 100 operational airports.

Passengers at times felt it difficult to understand the announcements therefore missing their flights. This move by the government will enable everyone to ease their travelling and stay accustomed to their local languages.
