Mumbai Police: Two Cops Dismissed for Kidnapping and Extortion of Gutkha Trader

Mumbai, July 2025:
The reputation of the Mumbai Police, known as one of the largest and busiest police forces in the country, has once again come under serious scrutiny. In a shocking and sensational case, two police personnel have been dismissed from service for allegedly kidnapping a gutkha trader and extorting ₹40,000 from him.

One of the accused policemen was posted as the bodyguard of Maharashtra Minister Dada Bhuse, while the other was serving as an orderly to a DCP.

What Exactly Happened?

The incident took place last week in the DN Nagar area of Andheri. Four accused abducted a gutkha trader by forcefully pulling him into a vehicle. They allegedly demanded ₹40,000 as extortion. When the trader refused to pay, he was thrown off a bridge at Dadar railway station. Fortunately, he got stuck between the railings and survived.

Four Accused: One is a Woman Constable’s Husband, Another from MSF

There are four accused in total in this case:

One was serving as the personal bodyguard to Minister Dada Bhuse.

Another was an orderly attached to a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

The third is the husband of a woman police constable.

The fourth is posted in the Maharashtra Security Force (MSF).

Based on the trader’s complaint, an FIR was filed and all four have been taken into custody. This incident has raised serious concerns over discipline and internal conduct within the Mumbai Police.

Swift Action by Police Department

Upon discovery of the case, the police department acted swiftly by terminating the two main accused police personnel from service. Officials stated that such actions would not be tolerated under any circumstances, and all those found guilty would face strict legal consequences.

Public Outrage, but Silence from Senior Officials

The incident has triggered widespread anger among the public, damaging the already fragile trust in law enforcement. Despite the uproar, senior police officials have so far refrained from making any public statements.
