Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train Land acquisition project is illegal

Challenge in High Court by Godrej & Boyce Company

MUMBAI – Godrej & Boyce Company on Thursday alleged in the High Court that the land acquisition process initiated by the state government for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project was illegal. The company denied the allegation made by the state government that the project was stalled due to the company’s opposition to the land acquisition process of the project, unnecessary hurdles created in the acquisition process.

The company has challenged the state’s order to acquire land for the bullet train project. An affidavit opposing the petition was filed by advocate Jyoti Chavan on behalf of the state government. The state government claimed that the company played a major role in delaying the land acquisition process. The company filed an affidavit refuting the government’s allegations at a hearing before a bench of Justices Nitin Jamdar and Justice Sharmila Deshmukh on Thursday. The court took note of the company’s affidavit and fixed the hearing of the case on November 21.
