It is reported that the new stadium will cost Rs 700 crore, will be build across 63 acres of land, and can host up to 1.10 lakh people. Further, the stadium is expected to have three practice pitches, an Olympic-size swimming pool and an indoor cricket academy. The stadium will replace the Old Motera stadium, which hosts up to 53,000 people, and has overseen 12 Tests, 23 ODIs and 1 T20I till date.

In terms of the seating capacity, it will be the largest in the world, moving ahead of Melbourne, which has a seating capacity of 1 lakh people. In India presently, the largest stadium is the Eden Gardens, which can host up to 66,349 people.
