Demand for immediate removal of illegal shrine near ‘Yashwantrao Chavan Samadhi Memorial’

Mumbai, Dt. 14
A mausoleum of Yashwantrao Chavan, the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has been erected near the confluence of the Krishna and Koyna rivers at Karad in Satara district. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has demanded immediate removal of the illegal shrine built in the name of Hazrat Jafar Ali Baba on the back side of Preetisangam due to the inexcusable negligence of the administration.
Sunil Ghanwat, Maharashtra State Organizer of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has approached Chief Minister Eknath, Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
It has also been demanded that strict action should be taken against the administrative officers responsible for this illegal construction. Today, it is being pointed out that such illegal shrines, dargahs and pirs are standing in many places in Maharashtra. According to the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, grabbing the land by building a shrine in this way is a kind of ‘land jihad’.
The state government should give instructions to remove this shrine immediately. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti also says that the government and administration should demolish these illegal constructions within a certain period of time.
