CBI arrests a CGM & DGM of NHAI and two employees for bribery and recovers RS 76 lakh

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a CGM, NHAI, Regional Office, Patna on accepting Rs.5 Lakh along with two employees of a private company (including bribe giver) in an alleged bribery. Later, DGM, NHAI, Patna was also arrested in the case. A case was registered against CGM, NHAI, Regional Office, Patna and others including DGM, NHAI, Patna; Nashik based private company & its General Manager, three Employees. It was alleged that public servants of NHAI were demanding bribe from the officials of private company based at Nashik for favour in clearing inflated bills, manipulation of Measurement Books etc. Searches were conducted today at 08 places including at Patna in the premises of accused; Cash of Rs.70 lakh (approx) & documents related to various properties from the premises of CGM, NHAI and Cash of Rs.6 Lakh(approx) & jewellery (worth about Rs.80 Lakh) including Gold biscuits, ornaments from the premises of DGM, NHAI, were recovered. Incriminating documents recovered during searches are being scrutinized. All the four arrested accused will be produced before the Competent Court.
