A separate Pediatric Tuberculosis Ward will soon be started in the Tuberculosis Hospital area of Shivdi of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to treat children affected by Tuberculosis between the age of 3 to 12 years.
This Pediatric Tuberculosis Unit will be started with the aim of providing treatment to all types of TB patients under one roof. Along with this, health facilities in tuberculosis hospital will also be strengthened. For this, two expert medical consultants ie ‘Paediatrics’ (SMC Pediatrics) will be appointed, informed Dr. Executive Health Officer of Public Health Department. Mangala Gomare gave it.
The proposed ward will have 20 beds. In this, 10 beds are for child patients affected by drug-resistant tuberculosis and 10 beds are for drug-sensitive child patients. Gomre said.
