It has been decided to close the Parashuram Ghat for traffic due to the collapse of the Parashuram Ghat in Konkan. There is a long queue of vehicles in the ghat and traffic in Parashuram ghat has been diverted via Chiplun-Lote-Chirni-Kalambaste route.
There was a huge traffic jam in Parashuram Ghat area since Monday night. Traffic at Parashuram Ghat has been diverted till the crack is cleared. The widening of Parashuram Ghat has been going on since last week. Therefore, this ghat was closed for traffic for five hours a day for a week.
Due to unseasonal rains, partially in situ work and harvested hill soil has come to the ghat. Due to this, the heavy vehicles are stuck. With the help of JCB, the work of removing soil from the ghat is going on at war level.
