In the last 25 years, Gyan Prabodhini Sports Club at Nigdi has produced 350 national athletes and players are made here after studying sports science, Manoj Devlekar, the pioneer and head of sports club, asserted here.
A camp was organized by Gyan Prabodhini’s Dombivli Center from April 14 to 16 for the students of classes VI to IX. The camp concluded with a sports demonstration performed by fifty male and female students of Gyan Prabodhini Sports Complex, Nigdi. This year is the silver jubilee year of the sports club. Devlekar was speaking as the chief guest in this program held on the grounds of Gurukul Tilak Nagar School.
There is a perception that competition is about stepping on others’ heads and getting ahead, but sports clubs teach children that competition is about cooperation. Devlekar said that the sports center is not only working for the health of the students but also for the health of the society.
The students of Kridakul presented thrilling demonstrations of Mallakhamba, Adhantari Mallakhamba and Gymnastics. The Dombivlikars present were surprised by the demonstration on stools placed on bottles and on free poles.
