6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the central part of Philippines

Hitting the central part of Philippines, a earthquake ranging 6.3 magnitude abide force thousands of the employees and individuals vacating their office and residences in the main business district of the capital, Manila.

“The quake struck 60 km northwest of Manila at a depth of 40 km”, said the USGS initially claiming the magnitude to be 6.4 but later downgraded it slightly. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage in spite of swayed buildings, it added.

Operations of the light rail system in Manila was suspended as the temblor shook a huge row of the Luzon main island. The electricity supply in the City of San Fernando was reportedly cut off as a preemptive measure.

The Philippines is on the seismically active Pacific Ring of Fire, a horse-shoe shaped band of volcanoes and fault lines circling the edges of the Pacific Ocean.
