100 crore 31 lakh fine from ticketless passengers on Central Railway

Central Railway has collected a fine of Rs 100 crore 31 lakh from ticketless passengers in Mumbai section from April 2022 to February 2023.
A total of 18.08 lakh passengers were caught traveling without tickets in local and express trains. Central Railway collected a fine of Rs 100.31 crore from these passengers. In the last financial year 2021-22, Central Railway collected around Rs 61.62 crore as fine from 12.03 lakh passengers.
According to statistics, 25,000 passengers were caught traveling without tickets in AC local trains. Railways recovered a fine of Rs 5.05 crore from them.
Earlier, Central Railway had set a record for collecting fines from ticketless passengers in the financial year 2019-20. 76.82 crore fine was collected by the Central Railway from 15.73 lakh people who traveled without tickets, which was broken this financial year.
