Thanks but no thanks! Ruling out Pakistan, India chooses Oman, Iran to fly for SCO summit

Choosing a different route, avoiding all obligations from Pakistan, India has chosen its way by opting Oman and Iran to fly its flight to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit (SCO) in Bishkek. Ruling out all possibilities of overflying Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will fly via Oman and Iran to reach Bishkek on June 13-14.

The foreign ministry spokesperson said India had explored two options for the route to be taken by the VVIP aircraft to Bishkek. The statement by the Foreign Ministry stated, the decision has now been taken that the VVIP Aircraft will fly via Oman, Iran and Central Asian countries on the way to Bishkek.

The decision comes after Islamabad announced that it had decided, in principle, to let PM Modi fly over Pakistani airspace. Pakistan had fully closed its airspace on February 26 after an Indian Air Force (IAF) strike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror camp in Balakot. Since then, it has only opened two routes, both of them pass through southern Pakistan, of the total 11.

Brushing off speculations, India with a firm stand asserted that it will not conduct any bilateral meeting with Pakistan on sidelines of the SCO summit. Relations between the two neighbouring countries intensified after the Pulwama Attack where 40 CRPF jawans were martyred. Taking responsibility of the attack, Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad proved that the country has been soiling terrorism since a long time.
