Thane: Luxury bus catches fire, no casualties

An official said 25 passengers of a private bus had to miraculously escape when a fire broke out near Ghodbunder check post here on Friday.

Santosh Kadam, Head of Disaster Management Cell, said that the incident was traveling from Gujarat to Thane city at around 6.30 am in Thane city of Maharashtra.

He said that an autorickshaw driver reported the explosion and alerted the driver, after which all 25 passengers were safely evacuated from the vehicle.

Two fire brigade vehicles of Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation were put into service, he said, adding that the cause of the explosion has not yet been ascertained.
