Sowing seeds of prosperity..! PM Fasal Bima Yojana stabilises the farmers financially..!

Cherishing and admiring the kick start of novel development facilities nationwide, the NITI Aayog have moved to award the districts and cities for the innovative development techniques under the ‘Sustainable Development Goals in Aspirational Districts’, ensuring the change reaches the last mile.

The Kadapa district in the state of Andhra Pradesh have received the national award from the NITI Aayog for the prosperity seen in the agricultural sector.

Providing insurance coverage and financial support to the farmers in the event of failure of any of the notified crop as a result of natural calamities, pests & diseases, the PMFBY stabilises their income to ensure their continuance in farming.

“I feel happy that we have gained the national level award for the best performance made during the period of October, November and December. Besides other activities in the kadappa district, we popularised the Pradhan Mantri fasal Bima yojana and it reached each and every farmer of the locality”, said the Chief planning officer of the YSR Kadapa district.

“Every farmer it seems is very happy and satisfied about the scheme. Every said farmer is getting the insurance for the crops they have grown. We have also given several benefits to the farmers with distributing soil health cards to almost 2.2 lakhs farmers within the district in the first cycle”, added J Murli Krishna, JD, Agriculture meanwhile.

“In the second cycle now, we have distributed 60000 soil sample cards and the remaining estimates will be distributed by the end of the month”, Krishna added further.

The new Crop Insurance Scheme is in line with one nation – one scheme theme. The scheme incorporates the best features of all previous schemes and at the same time, all previous weaknesses have been removed. The PMFBY replaces the existing two schemes National Agricultural Insurance Scheme as well as the Modified NAIS.
