Seizing dope valued Rs.16.31 lakhs, Indian customs pick-up the truck in Meghalaya

In a sudden tip-off, acting on a specific information, the Anti-Smuggling Unit at Guwahat intercepted a Bolero pick-up truck coming from Meghalaya and seized approximately 250kgs of dope valued at Rs.16.31 lakhs.

Two persons, who were seen in the vehicle probably the carriers, were arrested by the Customs Division. Mala Narengbam of Nagampal and Mayanglambam Arun Singh of Tokyel Khongbal with are names of the drug peddlers apprehended.

The seized drugs were Morphine weighting 470 gm with a valuation of Rs. 4, 70,000, Seven packets of Heroin weighing 85 gm with a valuation Rs. 2, 55,000 and 15,720 numbers of Metamphitamine valued at Rs.1,57,20,000.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, responsible for administering Indirect Taxes in India, shared the information over the social media highlighting the efforts taken up by the Custom authorities in India against the illegal activities.
