A 51-year-old police constable who tested positive for coronovirus died on Saturday afternoon in Nashik district of Maharashtra.
The official said that this is the sixth death of police personnel due to COVID-19 in the state. The constable, who hails from Nashik city, was posted on security duty in Malegaon town of the district, which has emerged as a coronovirus hotspot.
The police officer said that he was admitted to the Civil Hospital in Nashik on 1 May after showing signs of infection. Earlier, three policemen were killed in Mumbai and one each in Pune and Solapur due to virus infection.
