Moving ahead on the fourth consecutive day of the massive floods in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and nearby areas, the Army, NDRF and the state rescue team continues with the relief operations, saving a total of 80,000 families already.
CM Devendra Fadnavis while addressing the cabinet meeting on Wednesday reviewed the flood situation in the state. “We have accessed NDRF team’s aid to deal with flood situation. Also the Army, Navy and Air Force are striving to our aid. I personally have talked to the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and he has provided us direct help from Defence Ministry”.
“Relief operations are underway on a large scale. There are around 80 Territorial Army jawans, 22 NDRF teams and additional teams from Odisha and Gujarat at the site”, he added while addressing the forum after the meeting.
Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and surrounding areas have received very heavy rains in the last few days leading to a flood-like situation in many cities, towns and villages. Around 34 out of 103 bridges have already gone under the waters, isolating 12 villages and a lakhs of families.
