NCP Chief assures MH govt formation that will run for full 5 years

Amidst political instability and rising controversies on part of ruling over the state of Maharashtra, NCP leader Sharad Pawar on Friday moved up building the capital doors have assured that the process to form government in Maharashtra had begun and that the government will run for complete five years.

This is a couple of days after the President’s rule was imposed in the state and the political stalemate continued since the declaration of Assembly poll results last month, with the Congress and NCP saying they had not yet taken any decision on Shiv Sena’s proposal of forming a government and will hold further discussions.

Prior to it, the BJP, which won 105 seats, on Sunday expressed its inability to form government due to lack of enough numbers. Despite their alliance getting a majority, the BJP and the Shiv Sena parted ways following disagreement over power sharing, with the Uddhav Thackeray-led party insisting on the chief minister’s post.

Earlier NCP Chief Pawar had declared that NCP and Shiv Sena would never be together and suggested the NDA alliance to form the government. Later after CM Devendra Fadnavis announced that his party was not willing to form the government, NCP verbally noted its support to Shiv Sena, who failed to stake claim form the government.

The opposition NCP, Congress and others have 102 seats. The BJP won 105 seats in the 288-member Maharashtra assembly and the Shiv Sena won 56. Their alliance, being well passed the majority mark of 145, the Sena kept on insisting for the ’50:50 formula’ it said was discussed with the BJP for rotational chief ministership and equal distribution of ministries.
