National Flags fly at half mast..!Nation condoles sad demise of the commoner’s CM..!

Paying down the rich tributes to the Goa CM Manohar Parrikar, the Union Cabinet on Monday sympathised his the sad demise saying he will be remembered for his simplicity and as an exceptional administrator. After observing a two-minute silence, the Cabinet also passed a resolution which said, “In his death the country has lost an able administrator who was affectionately was also called the chief minister of commoners.”

Parrikar’s contribution to the building of modern Goa and to the modernization of India’s Armed Forces as well as improvement to the lives of ex-Servicemen will never be forgotten,” the Cabinet resolution read further. Whenever a senior leader of any political party, or a minister passes away, the Union Cabinet meets to condole the demise.

Meanwhile, the BJP-led alliance in Goa did not yet reach a consensus over the next chief minister, a move necessitated by the demise of Manohar Parrikar. Senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, who arrived here in the early hours of the day, could not secure a consensus between the saffron party and its alliance partners in the state.

With Parrikar’s death, not only Goa, but the whole nation is in grief. The Ministers from all over the nation have moved up or are underway to Panaji for proceeding the last rites and rituals aligned to the demise. Meanwhile, the Indian flag flown at the entrance to Panaji have been fixed at half mast in the honour of the veteran. The Centre has also announced a national mourning on Monday, declaring that the National Flag will fly at half-mast across the country.

Parrikar’s body is brought to the BJP head office in Panaji for people to pay their respects after which it will be taken to Kala Academy. His body will be kept for public viewing until 4pm after which the funeral procession to Miramar area in the capital will be held. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to reach Goa for the last rites.
