Maayus na ho, Main hu na..!!, assures Modi over passage of 10% quota bill

With 165 ayes as against 7 noes, the Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill was passed in the Upper House after 10 hours of debate. It is the earlier day that the lower house cleared the bill amidst the heated arguments. The House, however, turned down the Opposition’s demand to send the bill to a select committee for further deliberation. The bill now awaits the Presidential nod to become a law.

Hailing the passing of the bill as a victory of social justice, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Delighted the Rajya Sabha has passed The Constitution (One Hundred And Twenty-Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2019. Glad to see such widespread support for the Bill. The House also witnessed a vibrant debate, where several members expressed their insightful opinions.”

“Passage of The Constitution (One Hundred And Twenty-Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2019 in both Houses of Parliament is a victory for social justice. It ensures a wider canvas for our Yuva Shakti to showcase their prowess and contribute towards India’s transformation.”, he added in the series of tweets further.

“By passing The Constitution (One Hundred And Twenty-Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2019, we pay tributes to the makers of our Constitution and the great freedom fighters, who envisioned an India that is strong and inclusive”, the Prime Minister said.

Meanwhile Finance Minister Arun Jaitley showered the relief tweets saying, “With passage of the Constitution (124th Amendment) Bill, 2019 by Rajya Sabha, a historical reform for equality and equal opportunity has come into existence. Govt. accomplishes its commitment to #SabkaSaathSabkaVikas #NewIndia”.

“The Constitution 124th Amendment Bill provides reservation to economically weaker sections of the society in higher educational institutions & in jobs. This endeavour of the govt. led by PM @narendramodi ji now ensures social justice & empowerment for all, #SabkaSaathSabkaVikas”, he added.
