ISRO is achieving new levels every day. ISRO will be conducting a “Special Mission” in March this year, sending into space an electronic intelligence satellite named ‘Emisat” for DRDO along with 28 third party satellites.

In this mission, ISRO is also attempting to release its payload in the orbit at three different altitudes.

On this mission, K Sivan, Chairman, ISRO said, “It is a special mission for us. We will be using a PSLV rocket with four straps on motors. Further, for the first time, we will be trying to orbit the rocket at three different altitudes”.

He also stated, the main cargo of the rocket, Emisat, has a weight of about 420 kg, while the 28 other satellites have a total weight of around 250 kg.

Sivan clarified that after the PSLV releases Emisat at an altitude of 763 km, it would then release the 28 satellites at lower altitudes of 504 km. he said, “Following that the rocket will be brought down further to 485 km where the fourth stage will turn into a payload platform carrying three experimental payloads — one developed by the students of Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, besides ISRO’s own technology demonstrator and a Hamsat”.

ISRO plans a next mission to launch defense satellites using its new rocket ‘Small Satellite Launch Vehicle’(SSLV) in July or August in this year.
