The state government employee unions have called an indefinite strike from Monday to implement the old pension scheme. This has affected the Brihanmumbai Municipal Hospitals and there has been an increase in the number of patients coming to the Nair and Shiv Hospitals of the Municipal Corporation.
Due to the strike, the employees of JJ, GT, Kama and St. Georges Hospitals have participated in the strike. This has affected the inpatient care and surgery in these state government hospitals. Following this, the number of patients in the outpatient department is decreasing. But at the same time, the pressure has increased on the outpatient department of municipal hospitals.
The outpatient department of Nair Hospital usually receives 1500 to 2000 patients every day. But for the last three days, the number of patients has gone from 2,500 to 2,700.
