New Delhi: Days after Rakesh Asthana episode, central government on Wednesday appointed M Nageshwar Rao, for the top job of Central Bureau of Investigation interim director.
A native of Warangal district of Telangana, Rao, the 1986 batch Odisha cadre officer will helm the crucial responsibility of the apex investigative agency. Earlier, Rao was holding the charge of Joint Director. M Nageshwar Rao was instrumental in shaping anti-insurgency operations in Manipur.
Earlier, CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana and Alok Verma accused of corruption were booked by the central agency. Rakesh Asthana is facing probe over his alleged links with Moin Akhtar Qureshi case. The former CBI Special Director was the in -charge of the panel that was examining Qureshi’s graft case.
