Police said on Thursday that four people, including a policeman and his two sons, were arrested at Murbad in Thane district of Maharashtra.
The station house officer of the Muralgarh police station said that a policeman posted at a junction in Sarlagaon gathered a mob at the shop of vegetable seller Ramesh Shingole on Wednesday.
When the policeman requested him to close the shop to stop the mob, the seller and his sons allegedly abused and attacked him, the officer said, adding that the injured policeman was taken to a government hospital.
Shingol, his sons Dhanji and Digambar, and Sudham Gagade were arrested and charged under IPC and other relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act under 353 (assault for discharging their duty from public duty).
