A ground-floor one-story hardware store caught fire in Thane city on Monday morning, a civic official said. No casualties were reported in the accident.
Santosh Kadam, head of Thane Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Cell, said that the shop located in the main market area on Station Road caught fire around 6.15 am.
“The shop, where home automation and electric hardware items were placed, was completely swept away in the explosion. There were no casualties,” he said.
He said that three fire engines were taken to the spot and within an hour the fire was engulfed in flames. He said investigations are on to find out the cause of the fire.
