KALYAN: At 4am, Lahu Nimse’s family had a scary awakening when a leopard entered their home at Umbarkhand village in Shahapur taluka of Thane district on Tuesday.
Nimse’s wife was the first to be shaken out of her sleep by the sound of alarmed chickens and goats outdoors.
She stepped out and returned in, and there before her was a leopard in the next room. She banged the door of that room shut and woke up the others. All rushed out and locked the leopard in.
Nimse informed the local Shahapur forest range office. A team was sent, the rescue team of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park was called, and the two-year-old female leopard tranquillised. The leopard will be released into the wild.
