‘Artisan Speak’ held at elephant caves in Mumbai, In this event agreement signed between the leading textile retailers and textile brands.
“Several MOUs were signed between @TexMinIndia and leading textiles firms to facilitate sourcing of handlooms directly from local artisans and weavers for national & international markets. I welcome @sachin_rt in the world of textiles as a co-owner of a textile brand.” Twitted Smriti Irani.
Indian textile is known all over the world for its rich textiles and colour. Its richness displayed at the ‘Artisan Speak’ event. Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani inaugurated the event. She said, “ All companies who have signed Memorandum of Understanding with Textile Ministry, has made provisions that, those who want to place orders for the making of their product, will be given to weavers all over the country. The Ministry will help them with quality control but these companies should assure that the money will directly be transferred to the weavers and not to any middleman.”
It’s a unique event where Artisans, designers and businessmen have come together to promote the industry. The legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was also present at the event, he said, “ this is the second largest employee after Agriculture. So one can imagine a scale that we are talking about and reaching out to everyone in the world.”
In a related program, national conclave on technical textile will be held in Mumbai today. These events will definitely give the boost to the textile industry.
