Deepening military roots, Nepal Army Chief General Rajendra Chhetri to visit India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Nepal has been a successful event with strengthening the historic relation between both the nations. To solidify the existing bond and enhancing military cooperation between India and Nepal, Nepal Army chief General Rajendra Chhetri is set to embark on a six-day official visit to India from Wednesday.

   Aiming to consolidate the bilateral ties, this meeting between the Army officials will tend to make the relations even stronger. General Chhetri is visiting India at the invitation of Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat.
Besides meeting his Indian counterpart in Delhi, General Chhetri will also visit the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun. The Nepal Army chief will observe the officers’ training programme in Dehradun as the chief reviewing officer.
Such high-level visits between Nepal and India will enhance military cooperation between the two countries and strengthen bilateral ties, a statement released by the Nepal Army said.
A joint military exercise ‘Surya Kiran’, involving around 300 army personnel of India and Nepal, is underway at Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, where they are sharing their experiences in counterinsurgency and counterterror operations.
Indian Army chief Rawat had paid a three-day visit to Nepal in February.
