In Uttarkashi, the death toll increased up to 10 in cloud burst incident which occurred last Saturday night in Mori subdivision of Uttarkashi district. According to official sources, 8 bodies have been recovered so far. More than 6 people are missing. Many houses are completely damaged in Arakot, Mori and Tokochi area of the district.

The rescue operation is going on. District Magistrate and other officers have reached the affected place and are supervising the rescue operation. Medicines, equipment and food packets are sent through helicopter to the affected areas. Disaster Management Secretary Amit Negi, IG Sanjay Gunja has also visited the disaster affected areas.

Over 500 people are stranded as several roads are blocked by landslides and flash floods, officials said. The rains have so far caused damage adding up to Rs 574 crore.
The scale of devastation caused by heavy rains in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district unfolded on Monday with the recovery of more bodies from different villages, taking the toll to 10 while six people were still missing.

The rainfall havoc is not just limited to Uttarakhand it has spread to Himachal Pradesh and Punjab as well. The disaster has taken 35 lives till now, washing away of hectares of land.
