Crushing down another terror plot, Delhi Police arrests two JeM terrorists for planning attacks on Republic Day

Crushing hard another terror plot planned by terrorists, Delhi Police has detained two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists who were planning to carry an attack on Republic Day. The Delhi Police arrested the mastermind terrorist Abdul Latif Ganai aka Umair aka Dilawar were arrested with incriminating materials.

They were identified as Abdul Latif Ganaie (29), alias Umair alias Dilawar, and Hilal Ahmad Bhat (26) residents of Jammu and Kashmir’s Wakura and Batapora areas respectively. The Delhi Police had received an input that a terrorist of JeM who was the mastermind of a spree of recent grenade attacks in Srinagar was planning similar terror strikes in heavy footfall areas in Delhi during the ongoing Republic Day Celebrations. The inputs were further developed and acted upon by the Police.

The Delhi Special Police team flew down on January 20 to catch the terrorists. A .32 bore pistol and 26 live cartridges were recovered from him. Three rubber stamps of JeM commanders and other material were also recovered from his possession. The Special cell team also rushed to Jammu and Kashmir and recovered two IED/ grenades at his instance and arrested another terrorist Hilal from Bandipora who had carried out the recee of target areas in Delhi.

The Delhi Special Cell has issued an alert following the arrests. The information about the module was shared with Srinagar Police who have also thereafter arrested terrorists of this module involved in grenade attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

Another terror plot was foiled in Maharashtra on January 23. Days ahead of Republic Day, the Maharashtra Anti Terror Squad (ATS) conducted fresh raids in the state and arrested nine suspects including a 17-year-old teenager for alleged links to ISIS terror groups. Suspects, who are allegedly engineering students, have been arrested from Maharashtra’s Aurangabad, Mumbra and Thane district. The other eight suspects are youngsters between the ages 20 to 35-year-old.

Four men have been held in Aurangabad, four others have been arrested from Mumbra. Four others, in their 20s, were also arrested from Mumbra and the teenager was held from Thane.
