Congress to provide special category status to AP: Rahul Gandhi

Kurnool: Ahead of the crucial general elections, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday declared that Andhra Pradesh will get its long-pending special category status if the grand old party comes to power.

Addressing the party workers here, Gandhi slammed BJP for not fulfilling the promises made to the people of Andhra Pradesh. Recalling the move of state re-organization during the tenure of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Amethi lawmaker said that Congress party is committed to the welfare of the coastal state.

Launching a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul alleged that BJP government at the center is not so keen on special category status. He went on saying that no significant steps have been taken to address the issues faced by Andhra.
