The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against 04 private persons (all residents of Kavaratti, Lakshadweep) under sections U/s 9, 39(3)(a), 40, 42, 44, 49 A (a), 49 A (b) & 49B of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and taken over the investigation of the case earlier registered by Forest Department of Lakshadweep, UT on the allegations of hunting 46 live Sea Cucumbers and 173 Taxidermized Sea Cucumbers from the Sea. It is further alleged that Sea Cucumber is very important to protect the coral Island of Lakshadweep and also as important to marine ecosystem as tiger in the Wildlife.
Further investigation is continuing.
