Breaking down the corruption threads..! MH Police recovers demonetized currency Rs 1 crore arresting three involved

Breaking down the thread of corruption and acting strong against the dishonest persons involved in under the table transactions, the Pune police in Maharashtra has moved up arresting three people from Shirur, recovering demonetised currency notes with the face value of Rs 1,00,26,000 from their possession.

“The investigations are underway. The amount recovered is huge and the source of it is being traces. We have arrested three out of four offenders. One more accused is absconding”, said one of the officers involved in case.

According to the official police version, the nugatory currency notes were found in a bag under the driver’s seat on June 8 near the Kavathe Yamai village. An official with the Shirur Police said that three men were sitting in the car at the time of the bust, adding that the recovered notes were of denominations 500 and 1,000. The car was reportedly apprehended during routine patrolling.

“A case has been registered against the accused under Specified Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Act, 2017. The detained men are identified as Amol Dasgude, Ganesh Kolekar and Samadhan Nare”, the official added awaiting more details, the case being under investigation.

This is after two and a half year when on November 8, 2016, the Government announced the demonetisation of all Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 banknotes, issuing a new series of Rs. 500 and Rs. 2,000 banknotes in exchange for the demonetised banknotes. This is however, not the first time currency notes which are invalid legal tender have been seized by law enforcement agents.
