Pakistan has shut down all its airport after India shot down Pakistan Air Force’s F-16 fighter jet after an airspace violation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowshera sector on Wednesday morning. All Pakistan airports have been shut down. Flight operations have been suspended in Multan, Islamabad, Lahore, Sialkot and Faisalabad.
Pakistan claimed that its jets crossed the Line of Control to undertake strikes in India for “self-defence”. Indian officials said Pakistani fighter jets violated Indian airspace in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Nowshera sectors but were pushed back by Indian aircraft.

Pakistan Air Force’s F-16 that violated Indian air space was shot down in Indian retaliatory fire 3KM within Pakistan territory in Lam valley, Nowshera sector. A parachute was seen as the F-16 jet was going down. The condition of the pilot remained unknown.
As tension between India and Pakistan mounted, both countries closed down several airports, most of them near the border.
“The civilian air traffic has been suspended temporarily in view of the emergency,” an official of the Airport Authority of India
The affected airports in India are at Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Dharamshala; flights have been suspended till further notice.

Pakistan Armed Forces spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor claimed at a news conference on Wednesday that Pakistan’s Air Force struck six targets in India — but not military targets — and that two ndian aircraft then tried to enter Pakistan. He claimed the two planes were shot down — one of them in Pakistani territory. Ghafoor said two pilots were arrested, and one of them, who was injured, was taken to hospital. He said Pakistan took action in self-dense and did not want to celebrate victory.
