Bhiwandi Doctor booked for raping a woman

Thane: Police said that a crime has been registered against a doctor for raping a 23-year-old woman in Bhiwandi town of Thane district of Maharashtra. Assistant Police Inspector Deepak Bhoi said the incident took place on February 15 when Ramkunwar Singh, a doctor in Kalyan, took the victim to Bhiwandi to show her a flat and allegedly raped her.

The victim, who is an employee of a private firm, lodged a complaint at Bhiwandi Taluka police station, where a case under Section 376 (rape) was registered on Monday.

The official said that a manhunt has been started for the absconding accused.
