Will Take Stringent Action Against Guilty: NCST Assures Kalyan Ashram over Payal Tadvi Suicide Case

Taking the demands of Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram seriously, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) today assured Kalyan Ashram that it will take stringent action against the guilty in Dr. Payal Tadvi suicide case.

The president of NCST Nandakumar Sai along with other members today visited Nayar Medical College, the famous medical college in Mumbai where the suicide took place and after a thorough investigation, gave this assurance to Kalyan Ashram representatives. Dr. Payal Tadvi, a student from ST community who was doing her Post-Graduate course from Nayar Medical College committed suicide on May 22 owing to constant abusive treatment by her senior assistant doctors. The incidence has caught the attention of different parts of society leading to rising demands by people to take action against the guilty.

Looking into the serious matter, Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram filed a written complaint to the NCST on May 25 with a demand to give justice to Dr. Payal’s family members. Taking her parents along, Western Division Chief of Kalyan Ashram Sharad Chavan, Mumbai Metropolitan co-secretory Pankaj Pathak and Metropolitan Jagran Shreni Chief Ganesh Vichare explained their stand before the NCST with a request to take stringent action against the guilty in order to ease the stress and tensions in the college. The NCST has assured Kalyan Ashram Members of taking immediate action. However, members of the Kalyan Ashram have said that they will keep protesting until the parents of Dr. Tadvi get justice.
