Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday attacked the government over the transfer of Delhi High Court judge S. Muralidhar, saying that the “muzzle” of the Center was an attempt at justice and breaking people’s trust in an honest judiciary.
A few days after the Supreme Court recommended the collegium, Delhi HC HC S Muralidhar was transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The judge was hearing the Delhi violence case and the notification came late in the evening when a bench headed by him expressed “anguish” over the failure of the Delhi Police, in which an FIR was lodged against alleged hate speeches by three BJP leaders. . . .
Priyanka Gandhi tweeted, “Justice Muralidhar’s midnight transfer is not shocking given the current controversy, but it is certainly sad and embarrassing.”
“Millions of Indians believe in a resilient and honest judiciary, the government’s efforts to break justice and to break their trust are very disappointing,” she said.
